A Different Crypto Wallet Option for Japanese Users
Brave browser and BitFlyer, the most important cryptocurrency exchange in Japan, have announced their partnership to launch a brand new crypto wallet.
The two firms officially announced on the 9th of July by stating:
“To further strengthen our cooperation, we will start developing a crypto asset wallet for Brave browser users. We will also launch a joint marketing campaign to expand the recognition of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology among our customers and to improve customer convenience.”
While details of the new wallet have not been fully revealed so far, Brave is not prepared yet to present its Japanese users with the native basic attention token (BAT) because of local regulations.
Ryotaro Chikaki, the chief marketing officer at Brave Asia, said that a license is required to give the BAT token to users in Japan, so the company has been offering “BAT points” instead of BAT for the time being, which can be used for tipping creators but not purchased.
BAT is currently listed on several exchanges including Binance, Coinbase Pro, Gemini, and the new addition BitFlyer.
Brave and Bitflyer Will be Promoting Crypto and Blockchain
According to BitFlyer’s head of marketing, Kenichi Nishimura, the partnership aims to make crypto accessible to more people in Japan as the country has shown consistent growth over the years:
“Previously, one amongst the country’s largest digital currency companies revealed on a report that the blockchain industry has increased by quite 30% since last year. Japan has been witnessing growth within the blockchain industry for several years. This East land is among the few countries to make and develop a regulatory framework for the industry”
A report by the Monex Crypto Bank informed that 430 blockchain companies existed in Japan back in May 2020, an increase of 30.7% comparing to the 329 companies reported in July of last year.
