It has been twelve years since Bitcoin’s whitepaper came into existence, marking October 31st as its twelfth birthday, and celebrities are getting in on the action wishing Bitcoin a happy birthday!

Nine celebrities have wished Bitcoin a happy twelfth birthday. The birthday wish videos were sponsored and published on the platform Cameo.

The videos were paid for by crypto-security firm Halborn, featuring Hollywood personalities, musicians, and comedians including — David Hasselhoff, Charlie Sheen, Carole Baskin, Charlamagne Tha God, Gilbert Gottfried, Doug Benson, Hassan Johnson, Soulja Boy, and RZA.

Most of the celebrities were reading off suggested quotes they were given for the video. They all showcased differing levels of knowledge about the number one cryptocurrency. For example, Charlamagne Tha God questioned whether the pictures he found upon Googling “Satoshi Nakamoto” actually depicted Satoshi.

Meanwhile, Charlie Sheen praised Satoshi Nakamoto and expressed excitement at the chance to invest in BTC — once he finds a job.. He admitted he has little knowledge of cryptocurrency. However, he was still excited about the premise of it.

David Hasselhoff joined a list of people who have claimed that they invented Bitcoin. Although, it’s clear that Hasselhoff was joking.

“I’d like to tell the world […] Bitcoin was not invented by Satoshi Nakamoto. Bitcoin started with ‘The Hoff.’ I, David Hasselhoff, invented Bitcoin, and I’m going to keep what I know about Bitcoin a secret.”

Tiger King star Carole Baskin emphasized the ideals of contact-less payments amid the pandemic, predicting that virtual currency will be “the future.”

RZA wondered if “maybe soon there will be a Wu-Tang Bitcoin.”

While Oct. 31 honors the Bitcoin whitepaper publication, the network’s genesis block was not mined until Jan. 3, 2009. Many argue on the true birthday of Bitcoin, whether it is the whitepaper’s publication, or the day the first block was mined.
