Earlier this week, the Bitsquad interviewed the Cirus Foundation to discuss their project, a unique hardware solution combined with blockchain technology that is putting users back in control of their data. Cirus expressed that their device is only one part of their ecosystem that works in tandem with their Cirus software. Users will be able to earn this hardware device by using the software which makes for ease of adoption.

cirusmama Bitsquad AMAs: Cirus The Next Big Crypto To 1000x?

The project also gave the Bitsquad a hint that Cirus will be working with a major internet service provider (ISP.) However, Cirus didn’t provide the name during our discussion and said that it was a forthcoming announcement that the community can look forward to. Thus far the evolutionary project that is seeking to change the way the data economy works, has signed two Fortune 500 tech industry titans as advisors, former AT&T CEO, and former Apple CEO, Gil Amelio and former Seagate Technologies CEO, Finis Conner. Both men will be instrumental in the success of the project as advisors with more than 25 years of experience and connections throughout the tech industry.

Cirus is a promising new project that has seen its “Cirus” token surge in value following its recent token sale, only to have it dip due to FUD which the team addressed during the AMA. Bitboy Crypto looks forward to seeing Cirus grow in the future!

Check out the full AMA recap below!

The Cirus team, and our partners, bring a wealth of experience from many different backgrounds – Emerging Technology, Blockchain, Data, Entrepreneurship, Advertising and much more. Daniel (Co-Founder) and Michael (Co-Founder & Managing Director), have been building technology companies for many years and the Cirus Foundation was born from the realization that big data is broken.

Mike Miclea, [30.08.21 14:07]
Through their entrepreneurial vision, they saw a need that had to be filled and we designed a solution to fill it.

Mike Miclea, [30.08.21 14:07]
Accompanying Daniel and Michael today is David Brown, Head of Research & Community, and myself, Mike Miclea, Head of Marketing.

The Cat 🐱 Head Admin Of Bitsquad Check The @ (DON’T SEND CRYPTO), [30.08.21 14:09]
Thanks for the introduction. While reading through the whitepaper I personally noticed how well written it was. I agree big data is broken. Look at Facebook and the way they have treated our data over the past few years. Scandal after scandal selling our data and not a single cent in any of our pockets.

Mike Miclea, [30.08.21 14:10]
Absolutely – The owner of the data needs to be included in the value equation.

Cirus is a complete ecosystem which connects to the data network. The Device is a unique hardware solution that complements the entire solution. Why? because the Wifi router connects to every data point in your home adding to the richeness of data collected and ultimately more money in your pocket. Secondly, hardware is relatable, not having to change someones learned behaviour to adopt a new system, it allows anyone to plug and play without knowledge.

The Cat 🐱 Head Admin Of Bitsquad Check The @ (DON’T SEND CRYPTO), [30.08.21 14:15]
I think everyone is thinking the same question when they see that you guys are using hardware. How do you plan to get the device into homes worldwide and what marketing goals do you have?

We have a very strategic rollout plan that includes working with major internet service providers wordwide. Through this engagement we enable millions of contracts. The reason being, broadband internet is in its early stages in emerging markets, and they need more routers to fill this solution. We supply this for the ISP’s and support value creation to the home owner, its a win-win strategy

Michael, [30.08.21 14:19]
Secondly, the Cirus Platform (MVP will be out in the coming months) will allows you to directly engage in the data network and earn a device based on your earning potential, This allows us to reach a global network faster and deploy the device globally.

Michael, [30.08.21 14:20]
It’s a 2-prong approach – B2B (With ISP’s) and D2C with the platform.. we will reach millions with this strategy

The Cat 🐱 Head Admin Of Bitsquad Check The @ (DON’T SEND CRYPTO), [30.08.21 14:20]

Very ambitious and with your recent addition of Gil Amelio former Apple and AT&T as a senior advisor he will certainly aid that mission.

The Cat 🐱 Head Admin Of Bitsquad Check The @ (DON’T SEND CRYPTO), [30.08.21 14:21]
[In reply to Michael]
When you say “earn a device” does that mean that users will be able to get a device for free?

Michael, [30.08.21 14:21]
Absolutely, Gil is instrumental in opening doors for major ISP’s worldwide as he was not only the EX CEO of Apple, but also the longest standing Director at AT&T

The Cat 🐱 Head Admin Of Bitsquad Check The @ (DON’T SEND CRYPTO), [30.08.21 14:22]
Yes his industry connections are vast for sure.

The Cat 🐱 Head Admin Of Bitsquad Check The @ (DON’T SEND CRYPTO), [30.08.21 14:23]
As far as security goes with the devices and hardware. Will you have third party audits to ensure that user data is kept secure and for consumer trust?

Michael, [30.08.21 14:23]
[In reply to The Cat 🐱 Head Admin Of Bitsquad Check The @ (DON’T SEND CRYPTO)]
Correct, the better you engage on the platform, the quicker you will earn a device. On top of this, because the platform is tied to certain network functionalities – node support, liquidity pools etc.. you will also be able to earn a multiple on your data network revenue. So the greater you engage and develop as network participant + add the device (earned) the greater upside you’ll make in every regard.

The Cat 🐱 Head Admin Of Bitsquad Check The @ (DON’T SEND CRYPTO), [30.08.21 14:24]
[In reply to Michael]
Very cool. You certainly have my own attention.

David Brown, [30.08.21 14:27]
[In reply to The Cat 🐱 Head Admin Of Bitsquad Check The @ (DON’T SEND CRYPTO)]
Absolutely, security is our top concern with user data. We use the highest-level of encryption to secure our systems, relying on well-tested enterprise-grade solutions, with a blockchain layer placed on top to further strengthen the ecosystem.

The Cat 🐱 Head Admin Of Bitsquad Check The @ (DON’T SEND CRYPTO), [30.08.21 14:29]
[In reply to David Brown]
Very good to know. So this software and hardware solution would be constantly harvesting data on the network. I know I read that you provide the user with the ability to decide what data is shared. How does that entire system work on the U.I. frontend? Does it just show network traffic and ask if you want to share, or how does all that side of the house function?

The Cat 🐱 Head Admin Of Bitsquad Check The @ (DON’T SEND CRYPTO), [30.08.21 14:30]
Your project has me personally super curious about the data sharing economy. But how do we ensure that people’s private data stays private and not shared?

Michael, [30.08.21 14:35]
I’ll explain a few fronts here:
1) The UI frontend: The user signs an EULA agreement and onboards through the app, the following screen they will toggle on or off exactly what they want to share in their home (apps, IoT devices, browsers etc) The user has complete control of what they provision. There is multiple SSID’s tied to the device and each person in the home as well.

2) All the PII information is private and anonymous, the store of this data is handled to a secured Asymmetric Encryption. Data Privacy control is totally in the hands of the people who can choose to share their data selectively. There is complete transparancy on what is consumed with the users consent and where the data is utilized. Regarding the bigger question of how we intend to protect the individual user data is – We intend to store the data in privacy embedded database – all PII information is encrypted using either AES or ECC ( Elliptical Curve Technology – suitable for Mobile apps ) . The Data Privacy by Design is embedded in the architecture of Cirus and it adheres to National Standards besides the standards like GDPR and CCPA.

Already I saw you had 4,000 devices that were up and working but this is only in a testnet phase right or wrong?

Michael, [30.08.21 14:40]
that’s right we have already developed the MVP, 4000 devices have already been deployed in sandbox testing over the past few years (This is in direct relation to a major ISP), that we will later be announcing.

[In reply to The Cat 🐱 Head Admin Of Bitsquad Check The @ (DON’T SEND CRYPTO)]
We’re moving along our product roadmap at a steady pace now
With the token launch behind us, we’re back in build mode. Focusing on development of our software back-end, the Cirus Platform, and finalizing partnerships to bring the ecosystem to life.

Next up will be the first iteration of the Cirus Platform, which will be the main hub for interacting with the ecosystem (staking & other DeFi products, offramps etc). In parallel, we’re continuing the buildout of the software backend (Cirus Core), which will plug into the Cirus Platform to enable data collection and monetization. The hardware rollouts for ISPs and then retail will follow after that.

As far as timelines go, our internal timelines for full rollout of our current roadmap are currently measured in months, not years.

Well we just announced earlier today that Finis Conner has joined our advisory team. Finis is another Silicon Valley Hall of Famer (top 50) so now we have two of the top 50, not bad. He’s the co-founder of Seagate Techologies (the hardrive giant) and Conner Peripherals which still holds the record for the fastest growing company out of silicon valley – going from zero to a billion dollar valuation in just a few years.

He brings invaluable insights and experience when it comes to hardware deployment strategies….he’s done it very successfully a few times, so he knows how to scale a hardware business. This will certainly help Cirus in our plans for a rapid, broad rollout of the Cirus Device.

The Cat 🐱 Head Admin Of Bitsquad Check The @ (DON’T SEND CRYPTO), [30.08.21 14:46]

David Brown, [30.08.21 14:50]
[In reply to The Cat 🐱 Head Admin Of Bitsquad Check The @ (DON’T SEND CRYPTO)]
Sure, the token has 3 primary functions:

Michael, [30.08.21 14:51]
[In reply to The Cat 🐱 Head Admin Of Bitsquad Check The @ (DON’T SEND CRYPTO)]
quality not quantity in this case. These are also active advisors. More strategic persons will join, we have that in store. More importantly. we have have the next series of news that will describe, who the strategic rollout partners are..

David Brown, [30.08.21 14:52]
Remittance – When data is monetized, the value will flow back into the Cirus ecosystem, and be remitted in Cirus Tokens – Also one of the reasons we’re building on ETH Layer 2, to allow fast, low cost remittances.

Authentication – Each Cirus device will require a nominal number of tokens to be locked in, to activate and signal that it is live on the network. (No – users won’t have to supply the tokens themselves, the process happens automatically). This process also serves as a consistent demand function for the token.

Mining/Rewards – The Cirus Token will also be used as rewards for users contributing to and participating in the ecosystem in various ways.

David Brown, [30.08.21 14:58]
[In reply to The Cat 🐱 Head Admin Of Bitsquad Check The @ (DON’T SEND CRYPTO)]
Many of these projects are working on building a better system, and/or changing the way the infrastructure of the big data industry works – either with decentralized data marketplaces, or to make the ad-tech space more efficient/democratized . These are monumental tasks, and hopefully they succeed, as it will mean a fairer system for all, and more / better options for Cirus users.

Cirus is more about YOUR data, rather than Big Data. Our big data platform will be composed of millions of individual users sharing, and earning from their data – and as a result, being a part of the Ownership Economy, Web 3.0 and all the opportunities it brings (DeFi etc). Our rollout strategy is designed bring large numbers of new users into crypto.

We ultimately aim to be fairly agnostic to the various standards out there, using multiple traditional and blockchain-based avenues to monetize data. If the winds shift, and a change happens within the big-data infrastructure, we’ll make the necessary changes on our end to remain compatible.

David Brown, [30.08.21 15:00]
Ocean Protocol is aiming to create commercial data marketplaces / platforms / protocols…..They’re trying to democratize big data and improve access to it – Cirus is about giving control of your own data to you.

Michael, [30.08.21 15:02]
To add to this:|

Brave blocks advertising, and has a siloed approach to have creators advertise. Cirus recognizes that advertising is required on the internet – its a form of commerce.. We just allow people to take part in that value equation.

Block vs. Unlock

The Cat 🐱 Head Admin Of Bitsquad Check The @ (DON’T SEND CRYPTO), [30.08.21 15:02]
One of my last questions for your team. Recently there was a lot of FUD about a previous business where several of your team worked at prior called 5barz which settled with the SEC. Those that looked into this stated that you were previously developing the same product and rebranded. But this couldn’t be further from the truth. Upon my own research it was a network extender product and to my knowledge the router had no function on collecting data. I just wanted to give you guys a chance to clear the air surrounding this. In my opinion, having formerly worked on this provides confidence that you will build a fully developed product. So if you could please tell our audience a bit about the differences between your product now and the former business network extender technology?

Well Brave blocks advertising on other sites. But it allows advertising in its own portal with pop ups from advertisers when you have the browser open. But I see your point.

Daniel Bland, [30.08.21 15:12]
Yes, 5barz worked for many years developing a network extender, cell booster, and successfully commercialized that technology working with some of the largest telco’s in the world. It was through these relationships that we saw the opportunity in big data. As a result we formed a independent company to pursue this opportunity. However, spending years on hardware development we realized that in order to successfully rollout this business we needed a blockchain solution. I don’t need to explain how difficult it has been in the past bringing blockchain solutions to the market. We are extremely excited to bring Cirus to the crypto community where we are going to revolutionize the trillion dollar big data industry.

The Cat 🐱 Head Admin Of Bitsquad Check The @ (DON’T SEND CRYPTO), [30.08.21 15:14]
[In reply to Daniel Bland]
Right its important to note that it was a business that existed for many years. Until what looks like the SEC poked its head in told you what you could and couldn’t aommplish and then used its arm to stifle. At least thats the way I view it.

Daniel Bland, [30.08.21 15:16]
Actually, 5barz was delisted from the OTC for failing to file its financial statements in a timely manner. That was the only reason.

Start ups are very challenging to say the least. We are extremely proud of the technology that we commercialized. However, we did fail to file financials on time. And we paid the price. However, we were a start up with no revenue and our shareholders knew that. We did not intentionally not file on time we just didn’t have the capital to pay the auditors.
